Lote Tree | Sidrat ul Muntaha

Experimenting with textures to see what could lie under the Nile and Euphrates. These are two out of the four rivers flowing beneath the Lote Tree (Sidrat ul Muntaha) that is rooted on the 6th sky. The branches reach up to the 7th sky.

As I researched more, I found out of a place called Sidrat ul Muntaha in Iraq. It was initially a location for a Lote tree (bairee in Urdu) that was positioned at a point that is a gateway to the shrine of Imam Hussain A.S.

A personal learning during this piece was the reinforcement of “what you seek is actually seeking you”. As I began working on this piece, I would find references of Sidratul Muntaha in places I wouldn’t even expect.

What do you see here:
It is believed that there are treasures in the depths of the ocean that are yet to be discovered. The story has me mesmerized and I hope I can articulate my thoughts to understand what I’m meant to gather from this piece. I’m filled with hope and have a new surge of energy to gain knowledge about the unseen. I struggle with retaining what I read but I’m told I’m meant to keep trying and leave the rest to my Creator.

Commissioned for a very special couple who wanted to bring Sidratul Muntaha into their living space and hope for an even better and peaceful future. Thank you @farwa.nawab and Mehdi for trusting me with your concept.

Moral of the story:
Do what you love doing, and everything else will fall into place.

Sending you all love,
Amna Nawab
