Every South Asian girl has dreamt to be the most beautiful at some point. It’s the colour, richness of textiles and the lustrous silvers and golds that make women fall in love with wedding clothes.
I laid them out to appreciate their beauty, I imagined how they much look in their full glory. It made me smile, thinking how these rich accessories were presented to make a young bride feel loved and special as she was welcomed in a new home. I wondered how she must have felt? I smiled, thinking how lucky her partner is - she has hung onto these pieces of textiles as a remembrance of their beautiful journey which must have seen its highs and lows, because such is life. With time, the delicate cloth has gotten weak, but holds itself in the most unique way. Over the years, it has gained more sentimental value, even though it’s not a 100%. How many stories must have happened in the space the textiles have journeyed through. My heart although only felt warmth.
