Mastani is a state of mind, where you embrace yourself, just as you are! Transitions are the hardest, yet the only way, we meet our true self.
I created this during the online full moon retreats with Humna Mustafa. I love stories. The Humming Bird and the Fox were the key elements. My mind translated them into characters - “ Mastani and Sarru”. In terms of colour, I believe there is no right or wrong way to use it. The more you free yourself, the easier it gets. After many years, I’ve submitted to my Free Will - it makes me dance on my canvas like a child, unaware of rules and restriction with colour.
In another story, I love to journal. Growing up, I have loved hearing stories in Urdu. So I was urged to write and narrated “Mastani” myself. Because who else will support my madness but me, remember, we are our own knights.
