Aftab-e-Wilayat
Creativity is a language. When words fail me, I resort to this medium as a silent prayer. As I meditated with the names of my Creator, this piece came about most magically.
My deck of cards with 99 names of Allah guided me to the name “Ya Akhir” - The final destination of ultimate return of all things. The creative meditation, curated by Humna, took me to the only lion I know - Imam Ali A.S.
I’m most grateful that my coping mechanism relies on playing with colour. Working with my hands gives me closure. My journey, led me to a change in perspective. My losses started feeling like a win.

Loss of Life is “barhaq”. The loss pulls you in a dark place, but there will always be light after darkness. As I thought about Aftab dada, I could only think of his final journey and his positivity reminded me of the sun. This Lion stands for the Rising Sun - Aftab.
Channeling the energy the “Sun” raises in me - Raw, Real and Fearless. The splash of brightness stands for the lion’s love of colour.

I created this with a prayer to Allah mian, asking Him to make me the lion I’m meant to be in this life. May we all shine as an “Aftab”.
I’m unable to express myself better tonight. But my heart makes a special dua for all my loved ones alive and in the hereafter. Special duas for those who have no one to make dua for them.
This one is dedicated to humanity.
